In a few weeks, we will be saying goodbye to 2017 and welcome 2018 with new goals and new resolutions. I wanted to take the time today to write a list of ten healthy lifestyle changes that you can start incorporating into your everyday life starting today or even the beginning of January if you wish…
Drink more water, in fact you should be drinking half of your weight in oz of water a day.
Don’t skip breakfast.
Take the stairs.
Wake up early.
Practice self- care.
Create morning rituals you’ll look forward to every morning.
This time of the year is my absolute favorite and I cannot believe that it’s already here… How is it December again??? I feel like we just celebrated the holidays. Regardless I’m so excited that it’s December and all the holiday goodness is starting.
I have been reading so much about blogmas and I’m so excited to participate for the first time ever this year. Blogmas is when bloggers commit to posting everyday until Christmas day…my topics for the post will vary from everyday life to holiday related. I hope you enjoy!
My husband got a new job a few weeks ago which I’m so happy about; however, he has to work some weekends and this weekend was the weekend that he had to work both Saturday and Sunday. The only time I got to see him was in the mornings until 1pm before he leaves; and since I didn’t have to work today I stayed up last night and waited for him and we ended up doing something that we use to do on a weekly basis at nights before he got this job.. go to IHOP. That has been our little thing to do for so many years now, we love IHOP and we especially love going there at nights. So last night I waited for him to get home almost at midnight and we drove to our favorite IHOP location and had a mini super late date.
I miss my husband like crazy though; I feel so lonely. Part of me likes it because I have more me time now but the other part of me hates it so much because I just want my best friend and the love of my life with me. I’m really hoping he doesn’t have to work next weekend so we can at least get two full days together to just enjoy ourselves and have fun.
I think I may be the only odd one out when I admit what I’m about to admit… I do think like Halloween! There I said it, now please keep all your judgments to yourself 🎃.
I don’t know why but even as a little girl I never liked the whole concept of Halloween, I never enjoyed dressing up, going to people’s house and grabbing candy, which most of the time it was candy I never liked… I just never had a reason to look forward or to enjoy this particular day. I always just end up staying home and watching movies and relaxing! I plan on doing just that tonight after I get home from the gym!
What are your thoughts on Halloween? Do you have any plans?
Two weekends ago, I finally was able to do something that I have been wanting to do for a very long time… Get the keratin hair treatment! My hair is crazy after I shower; it’s fine for an hour or two if I leave it as is but then get super puffy, frizzy and uncontrollable! I have to straighten it on a daily basis and I have damaged my hair from it so much.
I found a Groupon for the keratin for only $89 here in LA and I looked up the yelp reviews on the salon and made an appointment.
I ended up getting my hair colored, cut and the treatment done all within less than 3 hours! I was able to finally wash my hair last night and oh my goodness… I’m in love! My hair is straight(90% still has a little bit of wavy at the back hair but I’m totally OK with it) soft and so not frizzy anymore! I love that I didn’t have to use the flat iron or a blow dryer to straighten my hair! I wish I had taken a before and after picture!
If you are debating whether or not to get it done, I highly recommend doing it… It’s like changing!!!
I don’t think I have ever mentioned on here that my husband and I are trying to get into photography; so on weekends now, we tend to go somewhere and work on our skills at taking pictures and just getting more familiar with our cameras. For now we are just doing photos of nature/places/etc; we will eventually love to start taking photos of people but for now this is what we are doing. This past weekend we decided to go to a place that we love… Hearst Castle! We first went there on our 3rd year anniversary and fell in love, and decided to go back and do our engagement photos there. It is about a 3.5 hour drive from where we live so we only went for the day. We have already done most of the tours so we knew we just wanted to get up there to take pictures so we bought a tour which you have to buy in order to enter the castle, and as soon as we were in, we ditched our group haha. I want to show you a few pictures that we took; of course I will post more on our Instagram account if you would like to follow us on there for future pictures.
Have you ever been to Hearst Castle? What was your experience like?
I actually haven’t started reading this book yet, but I just bought it a few days ago and I’m so excited to start reading it. I have been a Gilmore Girl fan for so many years now and I to this day still watch the show on Netflix! I absolutely adore Lauren Graham and her character Lorelai Gilmore…shes so funny, sweet caring and I love the relationship she has with her daughter! I so wish my mom and I had that type of relationship…sadly we don’t!
I went to ULTA a few days ago because I wanted to get an eye cream and an eyebrow pencil…I came out with a few extra stuff as well! Does that ever happen to you? Happens to me all the time…I’ll go in for one thing but come out with a few (maybe more than a few) extra stuff.
Look through the gallery to see what I go. I will be adding my thoughts on the products as well down below…
I had never tried the Murad Clarifying Cleanser before so I was excited to try especially since I like shopping more for skin care products than actual make up. Because I had never tried it, I got the travel size version first before I purchase the actual big size one. I have used a few times now and I LOVE it. I have been using it with my clarisonic and it has left my skin so clean but it does leave it kinda dry; it has salicylic acid acne treatment in it which usually dries out my skin. I feel a bit of a tingle when I wash it off my face and it feels so fresh to me.
I then wanted to get an eye cream and I have heard great things about benefit eye cream called its potent and I wanted to give it a try. Again I didn’t want to purchase the regular size since it was my first time so I purchased the travel size one which came in box with a few other goodies. So far I love the eye cream, but my favorite I would have to say is the facial cream by benefit. It is so moisturizing and smells so good! I will for sure be purchasing the facial cream but may shop around for an eye cream…if you have one that you love please let me know in the comments below 🙂
I always go with Anastasia brow pencil for my brows…I was actually disappointed this time because I used it for two days and there was no more product left inside…usually these last me for a good few weeks!
I have been meaning to get a beauty blender but couldn’t find the original one at ulta that day so I ended up getting the sponge to contour with; but I love it for applying my foundation actually. I love that the bottom of it is small and fits perfectly in my fingers.
I have weak nails and so I got a nail harder nail polish to try out to see how I like it along with nail filer because I always lose those.
I have been into blow drying my hair lately rather than straightening it so I went ahead and purchased a new round brush and I love it.
I have been hearing a lot about the poo-poourri so I wanted to give it a try…first of it, it smells so good and secondly it actually works so woohoo!
What are some of your favorite skin care products???
